It's ironic that you asked about my camera, it broke just this weekend! I was a small Canon Powershot S410... over 4 years old and only 4.0 MP. I was ready for a new one and the shots you like where actually when the camera was freaking out a bit turning the sunlight in the window funny colors.
But like you, I too photoshop my pics... I adjust the shadows and light to just about every photo I use.
